Progress pics of my own mod project. :P

A friend and I are slowly building a kubelwagen for reenactments. This is a couple of days worth of work.

No, most of it is from the guys who built the kubels for the movie Valkyrie, but I'm probably going to end up making some massive changes to it so that it has a little more historical detail.

A bit more in the way of progress, this is day five of working on it. We actually got a few pieces together on the inside, but took them back off when we were packing up for the day.

Indeed, I believe its a 69 chassis. We are going to have to do a lot of work to it though, including putting a bus transaxel on to raise it up and fitting new 5 point hubs as the originals are 4 points. My friend actually found us a 1600 karman ghia engine yesterday, that has the same style air filter and carburetor setup as the original kubels(or close enough that you can't tell without detailed inspection).

Unfortunately this kit is not up to my specs on the level of accuracy. Don't get me wrong, for the money we paid it's a steal, I just want something that you have to stare at for awhile to really tell its not original.

The interior of the car is completely wrong, so I've gone ahead and left out all of that. Once we are done with the exterior I will go back and make new pieces for all of the interior to match the original. Same with the gas tank. The way its set up now, you take a bug tank and fit it underneath the spare tire mount. I don't like this because it doesnt leave room for the little cubby at the front of the car. I'm just going to make a gas tank for it and mount it under the dash like the original cars, which will also allow us to put the fill point in the correct position.
