EDIT

Post your DH related videos here! Made a sticky out of one video post in hopes of encouraging more players to work on their videos ;)

IF It's a question of a YouTube video, there's a NEW forum code for YouTube videos.

Instert YouTube Video ID# - Example:

If you look at the full URL of that video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT7HwcTGMNE
So the ID is the part AFTER "="

And it shows up as this:
[youtube:2o3i44tv]sT7HwcTGMNE[/youtube:2o3i44tv]

For video recording:
Fraps (solely for recording and screenshots)
WeGame
Xfire (comes with similar community features to Steam)

For editing:
Windows Movie Maker (free with Windows)
VirtualDubMod (free)
Sony Vegas (if you have extra cash)

Now go out there and record some!

Thanks,

Zookawarrior

*******************************************************************

I was bored yesterday and was wondering what to play. So I thought I hop on and make a video of Darkest Hour (something I haven't done yet).

So here it is, I hope you all enjoy it or at least the music :D.

[youtube:2o3i44tv]VD7ZyUJ7gwo[/youtube:2o3i44tv]

Anyways, does anyone know if there will be Steam Achievements coming? This is the only one I play out of RO and Mare Nostrum. I'm more a Western Front fan.

Fraps = Recording
Sony Vegas = Light Editing

Might try out Adobe After Effects to make a new intro or something.

I also need to brighten up the video before I render it out. Youtube seem to make the video darker than what the source video is.

It's interesting how I never see anyone post videos of the allies killing tons of axis players on that map.

I'm thinking that it's pretty easy to set up and play 'shooting gallery' on that map as axis. =\

Nice video. It seemed strangely familiar to me until I realized I was playing that night on the Allied side. I usually play as >Fred< and I noticed my name on the scoreboard that comes up at T=4:13. I'm at my favorite spot, on the top of the Allied score list. 8)

I also show up near the end at T=8:28 where you kill me with your submachine gun while I am on the stairs trying to cap the Deutsche Bank. It's funny to see yourself being killed through someone else's eyes. Well at least I died in the cap zone. (I think I'll put that on my tombstone.)

You did pick a pretty favorable night to film the Axis side. The Allied team was a mess on the map. I don't know what the problem was exactly but we were just getting slaughtered and getting nowhere. Still, I'll give you credit for good shooting. We did a lot better on a couple of maps after that one.

(That night I was playing Allied. I had not played DH for at least a week or so, so I was glad to be back in action. I usually play Allied but if the Axis are attacking I'll sometimes take that side as I prefer attacking. I usually pick rifleman on an infantry map or a Cromwell on tanks.)

Of course, Berlin is always tough for the Allies and the Axis can rack up big kills, especially if the attack is not well organized. But the Allies can do much better and win if they play well, or at least get to the bridge.

Not on that night though. Here's how it ended. Not pretty.

When the May release comes out, we'd be much obliged if you would make a couple of vids showing the new features added to the Mod.

Hopefully, this would help attract some of the old players back and fill the DH servers.

Which means more fun for all

Nice vid...and shooting. I kept wanting to see you mantle out of those trenches, but then I realized this was filmed on the current public release, and not on the tester's build :P

Touching video, probably music played a role in it but really touching. Soft game. We need more like these. So when someone who YoutTubes "Darkest Hour", he or she finds videos of a game instead of some random band XD Subscribed!

I was wondering if there was a way to capture a level where you could view it from any angle afterwards?
Id really like to make some movies promoting DH and the correct use of equipment, using camera angles and action which try to show the game in its true form.
Id really like to attract the more patient older tankers/pilots or any other patient professional to the game. As is now, we attract too many of the regular gamers, and Id really like to try and get the word out.
Is probably start by just posting vidoes with keywords which have to do with the kinds of groups wed like to get on here. The current posts have a lot of action sequences, but Id like to see more about the whole picture.

As far as I know, Fraps is pretty good and it comes with a demo so you can try it out before you buy it.

I know a picture is worth a thousand words, but how about a written after action report of an actual round or scrim? The technical difficulties of creating a vid which actually conveys the essential nature of DH play would I think be very time consuming. I don't think there is a way of recording and then changing camera angles/editing, so you'd have to set up a script, "direct" players in spectate mode and perhaps add sub-titles.

I often peruse www.wargamer.com and they have these AARs. They're usually written as though about "real" action - you wouldn't have "...then I clicked LM, clicked again to reload, pressed w alot..." but you'd be careful to describe things the game simulates. I find the AARs more intriguing than youtube clips of the games, but maybe that's just me...I've been meaning to write one and post it on that forum, coz I think they'd be a prime audience

I know Jergulson has had a go at something similar over the 29th forums.
