I've found quite a few more pictures... so many, actually, that I'm starting to contemplate just how much time and effort it'd take to get them on here. "Tapfere Soldat bis zum Ende", I suppose. So I'll stick with it.

I've been picking up loads of Normandy pictures at a stead pace. Anyone know how to do a file share sort of thing so I can post them that way? Uploading them one at a time is very difficult and time consuming.

Hopefully this works. Spent the better part of the day organizing it. I'd love to see the rained on and grimy uniforms these guys are wearing and I hope the little amount of vehicles in there are an extra touch of reference for your vehicle guys.

May take a while for it to finish syncing so maybe around 5-6pm EST.

Thanks, Shurek! I find new photos all the time, but I hope those are of good reference. I left in duplicates if they were cropped for a good reason or had different post effects. Some photos may be of the Eastern Front by my own ignorance, but those should be a very few minority.

Schroll, thank you. :)

I watched this again and noticed at or around 2:30 some Brits run past a wall that gets peppered with rifle or machine gun fire. Talk about scary.

Yeah they had them zeroed in with that MG-42. That just ain't fun. Love the video, though. It's one thing to see the pictures. It's another to see it all moving. (even if some of the colorizations were off)

When watching these kinds of videos I try to imagine myself standing next to all of these guys and visualize just being there in the situation.

EDIT: Here's another

Found about 20+ new photos to add to the collection, thanks! I'll have to spend a bit more time on this and try and dig up photos of the Ardennes, Hürtgen forest, and Stalingrad.

Is that guy in the back a Luftwaffe Field Division or a Fallschrimjager with a regular Stahlhelm?

I'm not sure to be honest.

I noticed when I was putting new scheiße in the Normandy folder, it wasn't transferring to the Dropbox folder. Silly me. Check it out for nearly double the content from before.

Found a pretty chill video laying out the "typical" infantry attack as well as showing off a bunch of tactics and the like. If you cut it down piece by piece it's one of the great resources that would benefit those working on FE.

Preparation
(0:00 - 1:10) Artillery preparatory bombardment.
(1:10 - 1:35) Enemy artillery saturates possible attack staging points.
(1:35 - 1:59) A platoon leader observes the artillery bombardments.
(1:59 - 2:59) Casual conversation about the attack about to begin.
(2:59 - 4:00) Footage of men in ravines, shell craters, and concealed locations awaiting 06:13... the time for attack.
(4:01 - 5:21) Stukas strike just before the attack.
(5:21 - 5:37) The signal for the supporting elements to get into firing positions.
(5:37 - 6:01) Russians awaiting the attack.
(6:01 - 6:16) Seconds before the attack starts, the men are ordered to fix bayonets and prepare to move.

The Trenches
(6:16 - 8:40) Supporting elements open up with all weapons. The infantry and sappers run forward. The Russians spot the attack and rush out to fire on the advancing forces.
(8:40 - 9:09) Now closer, the enemy opens up with their defensive weapons. Smoke is thrown to conceal the attack.
(9:09 - 9:32) The LMG prepares his sling to be worn for the assault.
(9:32 - 9:57) A sapper with a Bangalore charge blasts through the wire.
(9:57 - 10:36) The men charge through in an orderly fashion, not clumping up. Grenades are thrown to suppress and they lock their weapons to "fire".
(10:36 - 11:07) The LMG fires in bursts on the charge and halts to fire at moments of opportunity.
(11:07 - 11:27) Riflemen fire quickly by halting to aim and then chambering the next round while on the move.
(11:27 - 12:01) Speed of action allows the first wave into the forward trenches.
(12:01 - 12:15) When shooting is impossible, use grenades to stop enemy movement.
(12:15 - 12:22) One watches as one reloads.
(12:22 - 12:41) Firing on the move with the MP is possible with one hand on the grip and the other on the magazine well.
(12:41 - 12:54) Quickly halt to clear jams.
(12:54 - 13:18) When too close to fire, brace for a bayonet thrust.
(13:18 - 13:23) When very close, fire from the hip and follow with a bayonet thrust.
(13:23 - 13:35) Heavy weapons are brought to the front.
(13:35 - 14:06) When grenades are thrown into the trench, go over the lip, retreat back, or throw the grenades out.
(14:06 - 15:10) An enemy MG position is spotted. A man covers with his LMG while the three prepare and throw grenades from full cover.
(15:10 - 15:30) Suppressive fire and grenades allow a SL to flank with his MP.
(15:30 - 15:50) With a break in the enemy fire, the mortars are moved up.
(15:50 - 16:30) An enemy mortar position is found. 1 grenade is thrown long and 2 thrown short. Immediately afterwards it is cleared.
(16:30 - 16:44) Dugouts are cleared with grenades.
(16:44 - 17:07) Heavy weapons allow for men with flamethrowers and concentrated charges to get close to enemy strongpoints.
(17:07 - 17:19) When faced with enemy grenades, go for full cover quickly.
(17:19 - 17:31) This private took too long and was shot.
(17:31 - 17:50) The pistol and spade are great close combat weapons.
(17:50 - 19:28) The supporting elements now fire into the woods. Both flanks of the attack push up in bounds across the open ground.
(19:28 - 19:50) A quick reaction from all weapons spoils an infantry counter-attack.

The Forest
(19:50 - 22:26) An artillery observer calls for the artillery to prep the forest for attack by bombarding it with artillery. The infantry know to halt.
(22:26 - 23:57) The attack is again launched. The presence of enemy fire requires stretcher-bearers to the front.
(23:57 - 25:56) Bounding across the open field, they are met with a pesky HMG. A colored smoke identifies the target to the support weapons which are able to take it out.
(25:56 - 27:13) Bounding is done in short bursts and accompanied by some sideways movement to help confuse any enemies.
(27:13 - 28:06) A grenade volley marks a close-in assault on the enemy line. Everyone joins in the attack, also marked by a bugle's call. Don't forget to fire during the charge.
(28:06 - 28:55) Fire quickly on any enemy that appears. Note how they stalk through the woods.
(28:55 - 30:03) Sometimes the nearest cover is behind you. In clustered terrain, throw egg grenades from the side.
(30:03 - 30:31) POWs have their belts removed, their pockets checked, and their weapon broken before they are sent towards the rear.
(30:31 - 30:53) Even without a rifle, one can fight using tricks. He kicks dirt into the man's eyes and drops a grenade into his foxhole.
(30:53 - 31:05) Do not use the butt of your rifle as you can break the stock.
(31:05 - 31:24) Sometimes in the woods, a quick grenade toss is preferable instead of a quick rifle shot. He also throws the grenade from the side here.
(31:24 - 32:20) They again fight off a counter-attack and toss grenades at the enemy MG.
(32:20 - 32:45) Close combat defense is shown. A close rifle butt against a man with a knife. A man from behind has his face smashed with the backside of the helmet.
(32:45 - 33:03) Once more, a quick shot with the rifle from the hip followed by a bayonet thrust.
(33:03 - 33:30) Unarmed defense and strikes in close combat.
(33:30 - 37:36) A flamethrower is used on a man in a tree. Now the unit digs in on the other end of the forest. The company leader sends out a small recce force and orders ammunition forward.
