This could be so much fun!

Too bad all the battle places are so far from where I live and I would have to buy metal detector.
Does anyone here do this as hobby?

I did some digging a couple years ago here in south of Finland, but I didn't dig in places where fightings mostly like have happened. Mostly stuff that came up was rusty, worthless junk, also some coins, a couple of rings and odd bits of metal. Here's a photo of my equipment. That's some cool stuff there!
I've heard there's lots of good spots in Lapland and couple diggers blew themselves up after trying to defuse old mortar round in their home which they found from Lapland.

Yes, those guys are good candidates for the Darwin Awards. :-D One of the most exiting finding around here happened in November 2013 when three dudes with metal detectors found about 900 years old skeleton with two swords and other weapons. The other sword is 100-150 years older than the other so it could be from the Viking age. Here's some video about that.
